Darcy Strategic was formed with one simple goal: helping organizations win.
My proprietary methodologies for building winning strategies center around mapping the moments in time when key stakeholders must make decisions essential for your success, then influencing the outcomes of those moments in your favor.
My 25 years of experience spans commercial aviation, defense, rotorcraft and space sectors. I have served in senior leadership positions with one of the world's largest aerospace OEMs as well as in the DoD's largest aviation acquisition command. I am expert in the unique challenges and opportunities of these fast-paced industries.
All winning strategies depend on influencing decisions, which in turn relies on the art of communication. With a quarter century of professional communications expertise, I give honest counsel to help organizations see themselves objectively through the eyes of external audiences, rather than succumbing to the self-affirming groupthink that causes ineffectual messaging and wasted resources.
James Darcy is a strategic consultant with more than two decades of communications and executive leadership experience in aerospace and defense.
Prior to launching Darcy Strategic in 2023, he was Airbus’ Vice President of Communications for the Americas. He led a team of communicators responsible for the full range of internal and external communications strategy and tactics across North and Latin America, including all Airbus lines of business – commercial aircraft, rotorcraft, defense and space.
Before joining Airbus (formerly EADS) in 2009, Darcy was Director of Communications at the Naval Air Systems Command, where he led a three-department organization responsible all Navy and Marine Corps aviation programs. His ten-year career with the Navy included work as Public Affairs Officer for the V-22 Osprey, F/A-18 Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler, X-31 VECTOR and other major programs. Before working for the Navy, he was a photojournalist for a U.S. Army newspaper.
Darcy is on the Board of Directors of The Perlan Project, which set the world subsonic altitude record in 2018 in a pressurized glider. He serves on the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) Sustainability Advisory Committee, and he has also been a member of the boards of directors of the NAA and the Washington Airports Taskforce.
He is a recipient of the Thomas Jefferson Award for “outstanding achievement in furthering the objectives of the Department of Defense communication programs,” graduated top of his class from the Defense Information School’s Officer Qualification Course, and is a summa cum laude graduate of the Society of Yeager Scholars.
Darcy is also a veteran aerial photographer. His photos have appeared in scores of ad campaigns, in hundreds of media outlets on six continents, and on more than a dozen magazine covers including Aviation Week, Air & Cosmos, Flug Revue, Rotor & Wing and Army Aviation.
In 2023, he launched 27 Right Photography to provide corporate clients with dynamic air-to-air imagery within a framework of rigorous safety planning and risk analysis.
